The US Navy recently launched the MyNavy Family application to offer support to families navigating military life. The free app, available on the Navy App Locker, was developed following inquiries by the Navy into families’ experiences and requests for proposals on how to improve these experiences. The app was introduced as a way to deepen family involvement in Navy service, affirming their important roles in mission success. “We all serve,” says Navy Services Familyline Project Manager Linda Jackson, “The sailor, the spouse, and the children.”
The app focuses on 11 fundamental milestone events for Navy families including new spouse orientation, special needs family support, and retiree support. It consolidates information from over 20 websites, creating a one-stop source for all Navy family support services. The app is easy to navigate and has few acronyms, making it convenient for families. Going forward, the Navy will roll out more family support services including a MyNavy Family website, live webinars, and self-paced learning programs.
